Agenda Message:  New spelling words. Practice Question.

Regarding Practice Question: Some children received a small piece of paper with a question on it. If your child has one, they can practice to ask the question tomorrow, as we are interviewing my mom (who, of course, is a Senior Citizen).

NOTICE REGARDING GRANDPARENT/ARTIFACT PROJECT - ANY TIME YOU ARE FINISHED OF YOUR QUESTIONNAIRE OR ARTIFACT, FEEL FREE TO SEND IN. YOU DON'T NEED TO WAIT!

NEW SPELLING WORDS: (all children tested on first 6 words - last two are optional)
THE FIRST FIVE WORDS ALL HAVE SHORT VOWEL SOUNDS. TOP TWO WORDS ARE FROM THE 'OP' WORD FAMILY.

Math: Yesterday we made 2 D pictures to review the names of the shapes( check them out in the hallway).  Today we played a game with our Buddies to review how many sides and corners on these 2D shapes. Here are the shapes. Can you find them around your home.
Here is a video to explain sides and corners. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OlcnbZ3uO8
Game with Buddies today.

Gym: We've had fun this week playing a strategy and active game of Tic Tac Toe. Ask your child.

Reading To Kindergarten Students: Grade 1 did a great job reading their story. Here are some pics.

Science: We have begun looking at The Sense Of Sight. Here is a video about the eyes. As well, ask your child what they learned from the teacher:
- your eyelids and eyelashes protect your eyes (along with tears)
- the black part is the pupil
- colored part is the iris
- your pupil becomes smaller when it is too bright
- your pupil becomes larger when it is darker
- a regular eye exam is important
- if you are nearsighted, you can see things better when they are close (things far away are fuzzy or blurry)
- if you are farsighted, you can see things better that are far away (and things up close are fuzzy or blurry)

We tested different tools to see what could give us a better close-up view of an object. We tested magnifying glasses, microscope, computer camera and CCTV. The CCTV was the BEST!
