WE ARE GOING ON A FIELD TRIP!
On
Wednesday September 27, we are going on a field trip to participate in the Grow
Calgary program.
The
Grow Calgary program allows our students to experience several curricular areas within this one
program. In Social Studies, we will cover how we are connected to our world and
appreciate what makes our community work. In Science, we will learn about
the needs of common living things. In Health, we will understand and appreciate
volunteerism. Grow Calgary believes that all Calgarians should have access to
fresh, local food. Farmers volunteer to grow produce for Calgary's
Compassionate Food Access Agencies.
Both
Mrs. Helsen and Mrs. Maze's classes will attend this program together. We will
depart the school at 9:30 and return approximately 2:45. Students and
volunteers need to be prepared for any type of weather, as there are no
buildings to escape the weather. There are port-a-pottys and no running water.
We will bring some hand sanitizer (alcohol free) but would appreciate if some
parents could send baby wipes. Your child will need a hearty lunch and snacks
and 1 large OR two bottles of water (both for drinking or washing hands).
Please wear closed toes shoes, as we will be around dirt most of the day. If
your child has gardening gloves or 'old' winter gloves, please send them for
the trip.
We
need 5 volunteers for each classroom. Each volunteer must have clearance with
the CBE. If you are able to volunteer please fill in the section below and
return it by Wednesday, September 20 and a Volunteer Form will be sent
home.
Please
return all forms by Thursday, Sept. 21.
Thank
you
