Social Studies: CBC Radio did a great job of promoting our Grandparent Day last week. A BIG THANKYOU to all our Grandparents and families who could attend. It was a fantastic event! GRANDPARENTS - WATCH FOR YOUR LETTER IN THE MAIL. Here is the CBC link.http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/grandparents-day-earl-grey-school-aging-children-1.4662101

Reading: Everyday we read (independently) for about 10-15 minutes. Here are some students doing their best to become better readers!

Social Studies: Last Thursday, we got to see some of the changes in technology. Ask your child about: the typewriter from the 1970's and the laptop from the 1990's. We compared them to a modern laptop. Thank you so much to Mrs. Plintz for bringing in the items and sharing them with us.
WOW - we really have great parents in our class!!

Health and Nutrition: We had a presentation from a University Student regarding Canada's Food Guide. Student's had great questions. Here are some pics. Look at the Food Guide together and see if your child has some questions about it.

Science: We are finishing up with our Senses. Today we experimented with our Sense Of Smell. Look at the Scientists performing their experiment.

As well, here is some great work - organized and neat!

SCIENCE: Today we tried to answer the question : Do we need our nose to help us taste?
What did your child think?
We found out that when we plug our nose and eat an apple the taste of the apple is dull. But when we eat it without our nose plugged, it tastes great!

Writing A Letter:

Today we learned about the 3 main parts of an envelope that you need to include when sending a letter: 1. recipient, sender, stamp.

Science: This week we will be planting our Sunflowers in the Courtyard. In the courtyard, we have one of the wooden planter boxes that we hope to grow our Sunflowers. By September, we hope to feast on the seeds!

Math: We are reviewing addition and subtraction. We played a game today called Cover Up. It was a review on the 'friendly numbers' and 'doubles'.
