General Outcome
Use patterns to describe the world and to solve problems.
Specific Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of repeating patterns (two to four elements) by: • describing
    • reproducing• extending• creating
patterns using manipulatives, diagrams, sounds and actions.
  2. Translate repeating patterns from one representation to another.
  3. Sort objects, using one attribute, and explain the sorting rule.

We have reviewed (and will review more) the pattern core. That 's the smallest part of the pattern. See video:

We will read the story, The Mitten. I will ask students to think of these questions before reading: What color did the boy, Nicky want his mittens to be? Why was Baba (his Grandma) not happy about the color the boy Nick choose? I will ask the students to create a mitten that has a pattern on it, so Nicky would never lose his mitten again.
