Social Studies (Next Week) BEING A RESPONSIBLE GOOD CITIZEN

We will be focussing on our Grade 1 curriculum area of Being A Good Citizen and what responsibilities you need to show in: your school, your community and your home.

Here is book that you can review so you can have conversations around how your child and your family are good citizens and what responsibilities that you do everyday. This 'pre-talk' will help your child to feel more confident in sharing their thoughts during our class discussion.

EXTENSION: YOU MAY HAVE AN INTERESTING CONVERSATION IF YOU USED ALL THE EXAMPLES FROM THE BOOK AND HAD YOUR CHILD THINK WHAT IT MIGHT LOOK LIKE IN YOUR SCHOOL, COMMUNITY OR HOME IF YOU WERE NOT A GOOD CITIZEN.  FOR EXAMPLE, IF NO ONE SMILED AT EACH OTHER, IF NO ONE SHOVELED THEIR DRIVEWAY, IF WE NEVER CLEANED UP AFTER OURSELVES, OR IF WE DIDN'T FOLLOW RULES OF THE ROAD.
