For words that are difficult, they should be looking at the initial letters and should know their sounds. As they feel confident in the initial sound ,then they should be sounding 'through' the rest of the word.
We will work on this poem next week.
Apples, Apples
Apples juicy, apples round,
On the tree or on the ground.
Apples yellow, apples red,
Apple pie and juice and bread!
Apples crunchy, apples sweet,
Apples are so good to eat!
Homework - Ask your child to think of new words that rhyme with (and record them on a piece of paper and send to class on Monday) :
round, ground -
red, bread -
sweet, eat -
I would love to hear if this was a challenge for your child or not!
P.S. I love to share your child's work in class. I am so proud of them and I think they are proud of themselves too.
